#GDCFNews | September 23, 2026
Stay in your lane! GDCFs did not get the memo.
The lanes that once separated consulting, IT services, engineering, operations and infrastructure are getting harder to see.
Tier 1s are moving down-market. Firms are moving deeper into engineering and physical infrastructure. GDCFs are helping enterprises build GCCs while those same clients bring technology capability in-house.
Everyone is chasing more of the client.
π What Changed
βͺ Accenture β moves into capital infrastructure
βͺ Persistent Systems β secures more of Nagarro
βͺ Accenture Edge + Amazon Web Services (AWS) β attack the mid-market
βͺ Cognizant + Cognition β prove delivery economics
βͺ Firstsource β productizes operations
βͺ Wipro + Oracle β deepen life-sciences play
π Market Signal
Accenture launched Accenture Construct, combining strategy, engineering, technology and project delivery across data centers, power grids, airports, rail and advanced manufacturing.
At the same time, Accenture Edge + Amazon Web Services (AWS) are bringing six packaged offerings to $300Mβ$3B mid-market companies.
Different lanes. Increasingly the same clients.
π€ Deal Signal
Persistent Systems has now secured 83.25% of Nagarro, with the additional acceptance period running through October 6.
Another example of the competitive middle of the GDCF market gaining scale β and traditional boundaries getting harder to define.
π Business Model Signal
Cognizant + Cognition put autonomous engineering into production at Odyssey Logistics, reporting 37% net cost savings and roughly one-third higher throughput β with human technical oversight remaining in the loop.
Meanwhile, Firstsource is productizing domain expertise through Kairos, while HFS Research reports it among providers where revenue growth has exceeded headcount growth for four consecutive quarters.
The delivery model is changing alongside the competitive map.
π§ The Recruiting Guy Take
The lanes are changing. So are the people GDCFs need to compete in them.
As you enter new markets and recruit rainmakers from across the GDCF industry, remember: internal value is not the same as seller quality.
You can hire me to find, source and close your next great rainmaker. But without executive commitment, internal sponsorship and delivery support, even proven performers can fail β or leave and succeed for your competitor.
Talent is portable. Performance may not be.
β Question of the Day
As GDCFs change lanes, are their organizations ready for the talent they are hiring to take them there?
And those lanes keep getting harder to define.
Our GDCF taxonomy is evolving with them. I will publish the latest working edition in this weekendβs Substack Deep Dive. Stay tuned.
