Fewer consultants. More IP. Bigger bets.

The GDCF business model moved again today.

📌 What Changed

Bayer → 30 AI agents. “Significantly fewer consultants.”

ITC Infotech + Happiest Minds Technologies → $1B combination.

Genpact → New product/platform chief.

Cognizant + CrowdStrike → OT security alliance.

📉 Market Signal | Clients Are Coming

The Financial Times put clients themselves on the record today.

Bayer already has 30 AI agents supporting coding and testing in its SAP transformation—and wants “significantly fewer consultants” during deployment.

SAP expects AI to displace portions of consulting. Bristol Myers Squibb says some managed-services costs are “collapsing.”

Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat pushed back on claims of 50% savings—but not the direction:

Deflation is “a fact of life.”

We saw the warning in India IT. Now the clients are saying it themselves.

🔄 M&A Signal | Happiest Minds Has a New Future

I have been following Happiest Minds Technologies closely—and today the speculation became a definitive transaction.

ITC Infotech will acquire 22.1% from founder Ashok Soota – promoter interests for approximately ₹1,330 crore, followed by a proposed merger.

The combined organization targets $1B revenue by FY28, 19,000+ employees and 800+ clients.

What caught my attention:

ITC Infotech is buying Happiest Minds—not the other way around.

Another mid-tier GDCF choosing consolidation as differentiation gets harder.

👔 Executive Signal | Genpact

Genpact named Priya Vijayarajendran Chief Product and Platform Officer.

Her mandate says more than the title:

Move Genpact “from delivering services to building and owning scalable products.”

Microsoft Azure Data & AI. IBM CTO. SAP. ASAPP CEO. 70+ AI patents.

When the business model changes, the leadership specification changes with it.

🤝 Partnership Signal

Cognizant + CrowdStrike expanded their OT cybersecurity partnership—combining platform technology with industrial engineering and managed operations.

Another example of GDCFs trying to own value clients can’t easily reproduce themselves.

👁️ In Case You Missed It

EY, KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture and BCG are confronting another AI problem:

If AI absorbs junior work, how do you develop tomorrow’s experienced talent?

The old pyramid wasn’t just a labor model. It was an apprenticeship model.

👀 Watching Tuesday

Anand Birje’s expanded mandate begins September 1 as CEO of the combined @Hitachi Digital Services + @GlobalLogic organization.

🧠 The Recruiting Guy Take

Clients want fewer consultants. GDCFs need more differentiated value.

That changes what they sell—and who they need to sell it.

❓ Question of the Day

If clients need fewer consultants, who do you need more of?
