AI can make a seller more productive. It still canāt make them a rainmaker.

š What Happened Today
⢠Boston Consulting Group (BCG) expands its North America AI leadership.
⢠Gartner says AI inference spending has overtaken training.
⢠AI continues moving from experimentation toward production.
⢠CI&T reports Tuesday.
⢠Globant reports Thursday.
š BCG | The Human Side of AI
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) promoted three senior leaders across its North American AI and technology organization:
Amanda Luther ā AI + functional activation.
Silvio Palumbo ā BCG X North America.
Natasha Taylor ā Technology + Digital.
The interesting part isnāt three new titles.
Itās what BCG appears to value alongside AI expertise:
People leadership. Adoption. Execution.
Technology still has to work through humans.
š§ AI Is Entering Sales. Letās Not Get Ahead of Ourselves.
Gartner says AI inference spending has now overtaken training spending as more AI moves into production.
Sales will be part of that transition.
AI already helps with account research, meeting preparation, notes, content, data and pipeline analysis.
I use it every day.
But across the GDCF industry, I am not seeing AI replace what elite enterprise sellers actually do:
Relationships. Access. Trust. Judgment. Political navigation. Creating demand.
š The Rainmaker Problem
And this creates another problem.
GDCFs are automating more foundational work while simultaneously needing experienced humans to validate, govern and own increasingly AI-enabled outcomes.
Thatās part of what I call the āFoundational Dependency Paradox.ā
Remove too much of the foundation todayā¦
Where do tomorrowās rainmakers and leaders learn the business?
š Looking Aheadā¦
⢠CI&T reports Tuesday.
⢠Globant reports Thursday.
⢠Watch whether AI productivity becomes revenueāor remains a promise.
šÆ The Recruiting Guy Take
I have spent decades finding and hiring enterprise sellers.
Technology keeps changing how they work.
It has not changed why the best ones win: humans still buy from humans they trust.
The opportunity is using AI, automation and data to identify those people better.
That is where NAO + NOUS get interesting.
ā Question of the Day
Can AI identify the next great rainmakerāor does another rainmaker still have to recognize one?
